Carol is an award winning ANP with over 36 years of clinical experience across both the NHS and Private Sector covering Dermatology, Laser Medicine, Aesthetic medicine, minor surgery and non injectable skin health treatments, with Independent and supplementary prescribing from 2005 she delivers safe, medically led, evidence based care across all aspects of skin health inclusive of PCOS, Perimenopause, menopause and post menopausal symptoms. Carol is also licensed to treat children for some areas of skin health from the age of 12 years.

How I have kept this under wraps for the past few months I really could not tell you! At BSC this is what we have been striving towards for the past 2 years to bridge a gap in care between Plymouth and Exeter. The MC15 Laser has YAG, BBL ( upgrade from IPL) and SHR attachments. This means I can treat Fine lines and wrinkles as an alternative to needles and other equipment that we have. Clear 80-90% vascular lesions such as thread veins, blue lake to the lips, Hyperpigmentation, sun spots, rejuvenation, birthmark removal, acne and surgical scarring. Looking back through this I do not think that I have missed any of the treatments that can now be offered with minimal downtime!
The process would be an initial consultation with a patch test which would incorporate a full medical history to insure that you can have the treatment safely.

BSC has also achieved Save Face status for safe clinic and safe practice. This was quite a challenge in having this certificate- next move is CQC; and, with this, another service to reduce waiting times for certain skin conditions in the NHS.
What does October bring for skin awareness
It is ECZEMA AWARENESS MONTH- Nights and mornings are dark and the coolness is notable. Our skin is working harder to maintain a healthy barrier but for some this is a challenge in itself, chapped skin, flaking and tender. Itchy to the point of drawing blood and then a trip to our GP services or MIU for antibiotics and help. On the worse case scenario A&E for IV treatments and admission.
